Foolishness Covered in God’s Grace

Isn’t that what every redeemed child of God really is? A foolish child wrapped in God’s grace? I’m seeing that in my life right now. I’ve realized that God takes our mistakes, sins, and failures and uses them for his glory anyways. I’ve seen him take my desire for a new friend and give me many friends who love Jesus with boldness. I’ve seen him take my time in Uganda (during which often felt like I was a failure) to encourage two new friends going to Uganda. I’ve seen God take my two new friends from not loving him a year ago and having more than one close call with death to serving Him in Uganda. I’ve seen how those new friends have been answers to many prayers and truly evidence of God’s grace.

God doesn’t waste our foolishness. He uses our sins to show us how gracious He is. He uses our sins to teach us lessons we wouldn’t learn otherwise. He allows us to share those lessons with others that have sinned or made the same mistakes or even to warn others so they don’t fall in the same pit. He uses our sins to make us humble so we can empathize with others that are struggling. He uses our foolishness so he can minister through us.

I Corinthians 1:26-31(NIV)

26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not —to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”
