Taste and See That the Lord is Good

Standard

Psalm 34

8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the LORD, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

God has provided me with a job and so many good things this summer! It’s truly been a summer of waiting and blessing! I’ve waited all summer for a job and had 8 school interviews before I got a job! I accepted a remediation teacher position at Perrymont Elementary this past Wednesday after having an interview two days before on Monday! So at the last minute, God blessed with a job where I will be teaching many grades in order to reduce class sizes!

As for blessings, I have so many! Being home with my family is one of them for sure! Until you are single and living on your own, you don’t value how special family is! Being a citizen of America with so many conveniences is wonderful! Having my own car is an incredible blessing! I was also blessed to help with VBS this year and enjoy my time with my students and church family! Then came summer camp!

I volunteered to go late July after 3 interviews with the feeling my job would be secure before camp. Well, come Friday before camp I had no job and more interview were popping up!!!! I was in a tight place! Should I stay or go? I decided to go and trust God. That being said, I had to leave late due to 3 interviews on Monday before I could leave! That last one was a last minute interview in my jean shorts and camp shirt, no less! But, God was faithful and provided that opportunity! Then I left for camp from Body Camp Elementary with my GPS “Charlie” to direct me. I had never driven 2 hours all by myself, so I was little nervous! I drove on 24 for what seemed close to an hour with sharp curves that would make carsick people nervous! It was a beautiful drive, though! I stopped in Halifax about 45 minutes from camp and at dinner at Hardee’s. I was amused by policemen on break telling snake stories like they were fish stories. I continued on to camp with an out-loud prayer and praise session and arrived about 8:20 P.M. and unloaded my things. I then joined my camp family of 6th grade girls and Katie, my co-counselor for an amazing week! That night I shared my own testimony with my girls.

By Tuesday night, I received a call from Lynchburg City that I returned the next morning to the job offer from Perrymont, which I accepted soon after! Little miracles throughout the week included simply getting the privilege to be there and love the kids, worship with the kids, and play with them! I also got to drive a 15-passenger van and golf cart, which are not my normal modes of transportation! I got to run a video camera a bit as well! Then Friday night, a few of our girl recommitted their lives to Christ and we really got to share our hearts and God’s heart for them before they go on to 6th and 7th grade! I really have a passion to minister to this age now and need God’s guidance on how to best accomplish that goal!
